STEM Professional Development: A Hybrid Approach

Given the enthusiasm for STEM education and the need to get students interested in STEM and innovation, it is important to carefully consider how professional development is delivered to teachers. Foundry10, a philanthropic research organization, partnered with a Washington state school district to explore a unique hybrid hands-on book study PD course. Our data suggests that this model for PD not only improved educator confidence in teaching coding but also provided valuable opportunities for collaboration and reflection. We will share how the program was structured, what materials were used, share data from the teachers and supply concrete examples of integrated coding.
